A very large fish lives in Lake Fairlee

In mid September Brian Stedman caught a large-mouth bass weighing more than five and a half pounds.

Brian’s mother, who supplied this photo, wrote, “It took them over 5 minutes for Brian and his father to get it in the boat. This is the largest bass either of them has ever caught in our lake in all their years fishing here. I have a photo of Brian putting his whole fist down its mouth. Whew.”

Note to aspiring anglers: they released it and it swam away.

Near the mouth of Middlebrook

The ice is beginning to go out and the birds are arriving.  Besides the geese and ducks there are red-winged blackbirds and at least one blue heron.  This was taken 0n April 11th.
